MY CORE COACHING VALUES I FEEL ARE ESSENTIAL IN ELITE SPORT & PURSUING YOUR PERSONAL GOALS

WHAT DEFINES SUCCESS?

  • Stepping stones - improvements in athlete action or a word that lifts when working with a young athlete vs. a senior athlete ..... NOT GOOD ENOUGH, BASICS

  • Winners will be those who understand the “why, when, how” you do it and implement it consistently

  • Education is the greatest stepping stone > increased situational awareness = better decisions more consistently

  • I / WE takes ownership and responsibility for MY / OUR actions > at some stage you must become accountable in building the steps.

  • Everyone has an idea - supplement - piece of equipment - I told you so - only if I listened to XYZ

  • Short Term Focus = “band aid” or “quick fix”

  • These are peripheral issues only - success is built on a solid foundation of:
CONSISTENCY & QUALITY - of your DAILY COMMITMENT TO BASICS

WINNING IS AN ART FORM

Development - winning comes about from:

  • Consistent attention to detail in preparation (routine)

  • Culture - The discipline to consistently develop

  • In my experience athletes encounter more situations which question their confidence in competition & tour environments - pre game routine on tour vs. school / club sport.

  • It comes as a result of “TIMING”

  • Timing is a result of clarity in PERIODISATION and planning.

BUILDING A TEAM - INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE TEAM

  • PURPOSE - Understanding what drives or motivates each individual / family - money - club - team -nationalism - pride - what drives YOU?

  • Then providing the environment and opportunity for each individual to preform at their optimal level within the team culture.

NO COMPROMISES THEY WILL BITE YOU

  • Athletes who are not responsible for their development > unfortunately He or she is not ready to preform.

  • Fail to Prepare = Prepare to Fail! As a coach, how you prepare for each event will determine the extent of development of the squad and individuals. The biggest challenge is keeping all members focused and challenged for the entire period.

  • Do Not Compromised on the Cultural Structures
